Wire
Myth and Magic
This two day class will take you through a doll making journey that will demonstrate a variety of techniques. Transform mixed media and found elements into a one of a kind creation. Learn how to incorporate sculpted heads, purchased hands and other items with a wire armature. Create directly from your imagination. You will learn Cody's wire armature, sculpting and wrapping technique to rough out the form and strike a pose. Use found pieces, ephemera and variety of painting techniques to create the skin and finish on the piece. Accent your art work, Cody will guide you in detailing and embellishing to complete your masterpiece. Learn to take a molded face made of paper clay and alter it to create your own unique characters. Want to know what some of those fun acrylic mediums are and how to use them? Like the look of rusted ancient objects? You will learn about these in class and much more to create your skin texture and color. This class is for those wishing to take their doll making outside of the box and into the realm of true art pieces. As an added bonus, Cody will also discuss how to present your creations for gallery presentation. This class is listed Advanced beginner and up, but there is no sewing required! This is a two day workshop.
Mediums Make Your Art Go Round
Have you wanted to learn more about acrylic paint mediums? Cody will explain it all. This class is hands on. You will be practicing all the techniques. Experience a variety of special mediums to enhance your own art doll creations. You can even take this knowledge and apply it to other types of artwork. Cody will instruct you step by step while you apply these methods on provided, paper and board sample forms. Turn these samples into mini projects! You will have an art sample book to reference to later. Learn special techniques, how to achieve effects and add cool texturing. This is a one day class.
3D Painting 101
Ok here's the class you have been waiting for. In this class you will learn how to create a three dimensional painting using a variety of acrylic mediums and techniques. Once you have created the foundation and sculpted forms you will then learn about the multi layered painting process to create luminous results. This is a 2 & 1/2 day class. The time is because the mediums require a certain amount of time to cure. The level of experience is beginners to advanced. I will also instruct you on the variety of mediums and paints available to the acrylic painter. We also discuss using found elements to create forms too.
